Jeff Wendorff's photography portfolio of Black Bears and Grizzly Bears from the family Ursidae.

The collective noun for bears is a sleuth or a sloth of bears. I dislike them both and so have decided to create my own.

American Black Bear

I always think of bears hibernating in their dens. So, for the Black Bear, I am using a den as their collective nouns.

Grizzly Bear

This one is harder and even though they den, I think of them as being so much more powerful. The hump on the back of the grizzly is their distinguishing characteristic and so a hump will do just fine.

Please enjoy this den of black bears and my hump of grizzly bears. And perhaps I’ll see you out there and you can photograph the bears with me
