Larks are passerine birds of the family Alaudidae. All species occur in the Old World, and in northern and eastern Australia. Only one, the Horned Lark, is also found in North America. They have more elaborate calls than most birds, and often extravagant songs given in display flight. These melodious sounds (to human ears), have ensured larks a prominent place in literature and music.

Their voice has also given us the most famous of all collective nouns, an exaltation of larks.

My bird phtography portfolio includes:

Horned Lark, Eremophila alpestris
Rufous-naped Lark, Mirafra africana

I have several photography workshops that feature bird photography, come and take at look at Wildlife Workshops.
